February 2022 Runners Bulletin
Updated: Apr 4
With just over a month to go until event day, how is your preparation going?
We hope your training is on course and you're steadily building up your longer runs.
What's in this month's bulletin?
Finishers Medals 2022
Below is the first peek of the 2022 finishers medals for both the Half Marathon and the Fun Run. These laser cut wooden medals are manufactured here in the UK and we hope you agree, will be worn with pride by everyone crossing the finish line next month.
Meet Our Sponsors
"Pinney Talfourd is delighted to support this year’s Brentwood half marathon. We work closely with the Brentwood community and supporting this event is part of our pledge to continue to be an integral part of the community. Staff from our firm will be there on the day, running, supporting and handing out goodies."
"The SV team will be on hand all day - pre and post race, in the sports hall, ready to serve you. Pop along and let the team help you achieve your goal - whether this is your FIRST ever half marathon, or you are gunning for a PB, or simply celebrating the fact your body and mind is willing to try a half marathon. We salute you and we are ready to support you along your journey!"
£10 minimum donation - 100% to the Rotary Club for the 3 local charities.
Q. What services do you offer runners on race day?
A. We offer pre and post treatment. This includes:
Sports Massage - pre event sports massage is a great way to benefit a runner’s warm up routine. Treatment is not too deep to ensure the muscles are ready to run a half marathon.
Post event sports massage can really aid recovery, especially for those runners who are not great with stretching and their recovery routine (we all know 1 of these runners don’t we!)
Sports taping - We use Kinesio taping which is a hypoallergenic stretchy tape to help improve blood circulation to a particular muscle/joint. Blood is everything. If we do not have an optimum blood circulation to our limbs during a race, we are at risk of an injury. But don’t neglect your warm up and simply opt for the ‘Mummy look’ covered in tape!
Sports injury assessment and treatment - If you have sustained an injury during the race, we can assess this short term for you and offer you some immediate advice. Ultimately do not leave the injury unassessed for too long. Pop to your local sports injury clinic (us!) the week after the race and let’s get this injury dealt with asap. We know many of you will have a calendar full of races and events for 2022, thus optimum recovery and minimal ‘guess work’ is key.
