This year Brentwood Half Marathon & Fun Run is celebrating its 40th year. To coincide with the anniversary Thurrock and Brentwood Mind have launched a campaign called 40 for 40 which is hoping to recruit 40 runners to fundraise for the charity.
Thurrock and Brentwood Mind is a local charity delivering a range of high-quality mental health services. It was launched in the 1980’s initially offering services to residents of Thurrock before expanding into the Brentwood area in more recent years. The charity prides itself on putting its clients and those with lived experience at the heart of its services. At all stages of its development the charity has sought the input of those it supports and many of its services involve staff and volunteers who are happy to share their personal stories.
The demand for mental health services is growing rapidly and to help maintain and grow services Thurrock and Brentwood Mind have launched its most recent fundraising campaign – Team 40 for 40. To celebrate Brentwood Half Marathon & Fun Run’s 40th anniversary they are looking for 40 runners to take part and raise money.
The campaign was inspired by the former Olympic Paralympian Danny Crates who kindly joined one of the charity’s Wellbeing Groups as a guest speaker earlier in the year. He will be taking part in the Half Marathon and is encouraging others to get involved too. Watch Danny’s video about signing up for the race.
